At a dinner a week or two karma came up. Someone was saying how awful Karma was and that it could not be trusted. This is a misnomer.

end of another trip around the sun brings to mind many things. I little joy, such as travel, a little sadness, several stars that fell from the sky, and all around good vibes for my good friends here at the flist!
I have said it before and I will say it again, Y'all are the greatest people in the world, I am the wealthier for knowing each and everyone of you!
Warm and safe New Year, 2008!

has been a bust of a holiday. I am somewhat of a sourpuss about it. I did keep hoping that it would get better, but it never did. Part of this holiday was supposed to be the trip to Branson. For the second year in a row it was canceled. This time for a homeless doggie. Yes, it is a noble thing I do but I was *really* looking forward to that trip. Plus, I seem to be the one looking after the doggie. DH conveniently has things to do. This was a "group" decision. This should be a "group" work effort.
I woke up this evening from a nap to find not one but two pair of shoes destroyed. Harumph! Yes, I know that they would not have been chewed on if they were put away. I told DH to put his shoes away. He did not. He proceeded to yell at Nemo. I jumped all over DH for leaving the shoes out for the dog to get to. Again, harumph!!
Only one gift for Christmas, no trip, and destroyed shoes that must be replaced. Krappy holiday season.
Oh, yeah, no gaming tomorrow night. It got canceled. I am so not getting dressed tomorrow!

is a healthy doggie. He finally had a healthy dump!!! It took two days of doggie food. Then he proceeded to help himself to DH's bologna sandwich that was in the middle of the dining table. Then an hour or so later Nemo had dessert, half of a home made cheese cake that DH's boss' wife baked for us. Needless to say, Nemo had a rough day. DH had a rough day, too, since he put those things in the dogs reach.
It is not Nemo's fault that his previous owner was an idiot with feeding him "people food". He is just learning to eat dog food. I am hoping the events of the day hasn't set Nemo back too far with his eating behavior. We will see.
We didn't hear from the shelter lady yet. I am patient knowing that she will place him.
We are going to see Enchanted on Sunday and then we will be gaming the new year in on Monday evening. The evening is starting at 5pm with dinner with our gaming buddies, and then campaigning into the night. We will also see how long my keister lasts before it goes numb and falls off.
Y'all have a wonderful and prosperous New Year.

is refreshing to reach out and help someone. My only fear doing such is that I may speak over someone's head. I don't really mean to. I just want to be clear with what I am saying.
Educated in the health sciences makes me this way. Someone presents a problem and if I have the knowledge to help them, I want to help, but have one heck of a time leaving out the medical jargon.
Case in point. In one of my weight loss forums, someone asked why someone they knew commented that they were losing weight too fast. This bothered me since,
1. Everyone loses weight differently, because,
2. Everyone's body is different.
3. The greater the weight to lose, the greater the loss per week starting out.
This is simple physics, not to mention, the anatomy and physiology of the body. Coupled with a boat load of metabolic issues...kcals ingested vs. kcals expended.
I hope I was clear enough, and not come off as a know it all. Now that I look at this, this seems easier to understand than what I wrote to that person. Oh well, I hope she takes it in good spirit.
Regards, everybody!

saga of Nemo continues. We have found out that Nemo has health records. He is just a year old. He is also a pure bread Canadian Chocolate Lab. I was stunned. We were also able to get him into a rescue program. With him being a Lab, we are told that he will "move" fast. This is good, but with it being the holiday season it will take a few days longer than expected since a lot of people are gone/out of town/partying at this time of year. As much as a week longer.
He is in good health right now. Well sorta. He has a case of the squirts. I imagine that is from being put into a new home with two doggies that he doesn't know. DH took a good look at one of his squirty episodes and didn't find rice. This is a good thing since rice represents the presents of tape worms. We think that the squirts are a "nervous" thing with his nerves and hope that it settles down.
He knows "sit", "down" and "outside". He is good with my doggies. He is well behaved. He appears to have been fed "human" food because he has yet to touch the dog food. He will eat when he gets good and hungry.
We need prayers for him to find a good home that will love him and "pamper" him with belly rubs like all good doggies need.
I am certain that prayers said for a creature/critter that cannot help him self will be filled in short order.
Many thanks for those prayers said!

Just came over the news:
Dan Fogelberg, the singer and songwriter whose hits "Leader of the Band" and "Same Old Lang Syne" helped define the soft-rock era, died Sunday at his home in Maine after battling prostate cancer. He was 56.
Suddenly, I feel very old, and the world is a little less bright.

are looking at our first real weather of the season. Ice storm, at least an inch, on Sunday night.
We are heading to the city tomorrow evening to get a jump on things we need to do. We will hit the mall. To get my glasses fixed. Then to a box store to get a tree. Swim in the hotel pool. Eat b'fast. Head to the theatre, see Enchanted, then groceries. Home by 4. Shower and dress for that company party. UUG! Too much to do and no time to do it.
I did my Christmas shopping early so life could by easy. This is not my idea of easy.
Sunday we set up the tree, after I have baked my husband his yearly doorstop, oops, I mean, fruitcake.
Yes, he eats those. Likes mine best 'cause it is from scratch. No, I have never tasted it. I don't eat doorstops.
I plan on making beef/barley/lentil stoup to keep us warm. Since I won't be going out on ice. I am so glad that we live close enough for DH to walk to work. (not that he will, but the option is there)
Be safe y'all!

There is also a portion of I-10 that is fouled up in Phoenix. They make you get off the highway onto the side streets for 8 miles...complete with stop lights and the locals. That sucked. We gave up and got a map to negotiate through neighborhoods further off the highway. Grrrrr. This helped. We wasted a total of two hours on Phoenix. I could have spit.
I am much better now..

If you know anyone who is traveling I-40 Westbound, Please tell them that the traffic in and on *both* sides of Albuquerque simply sucks!!!! The ETA to our hotel in Gallup tonight was supposed to have been at 8:30 pm. We just got here about 20 min ago, it is now 11:11 pm!! Forwarn any driver that you know that is going this way to leave early and expect traffic/construction/stop and go driving.
I am so tired, and this cold/body aches don't help any....yup, grammar is out the door right now.
Seepy, seepy now.

PS. I miss my critters
